The second day of campout, we eagerly anticipated finding species not seen in our local area as we surveyed Brookfield Conservation Park. Humans weren't the only creatures out and about in the early warmth of the day.
High on the priority list of some stalkers was the Chestnut Quail-thrush, which duly appeared briefly before fleeing for shelter.
The well camouflaged Tawny Frogmouth viewed the visitors with disdain but posed for the curious.
The Crested Bellbird and Red-backed Kingfisher provided 'ticks' for some watchers.
Seemingly unfazed by our presence, was the Owlet Nightjar.
Bright spot of the morning was the Red-capped Robin.
Secretive Southern Scrub-robin and colourful Splendid Wren thrilled watchers.
Best honeyeater of the day was the White-fronted Honeyeater.
