After an early briefing at the ranger's station we set out, driving across paddocks first and then walking along the edge of the scrub down the hill to Martin's Washpool.
Hundreds of Black Swan floated on the huge expanse of water that is the washpool. Special sighting here was of a small flock of Varied Sittella.
Grey Fantail were nesting in the nearby vegetation.
Many Yakka in the locality were deformed by grub infestation and one Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater found a good perch on the curves of an affected plant.
Further inland a Large Black Cormorant sheltered in a drain, and numerous grub-ridden yakkas curved gracefully.
